Today I’m introducing the design we get asked for most: 3D art.

With Sculpted Art, Placement Changes Everything

3D art is a technique where gel is built up into raised motifs such as flowers, ribbons, and hearts. It has a presence that flat art can’t match, so even a single accent nail changes the impression of your whole hand.

What matters most is the balance of placement and height. Sculpting every nail makes them easy to catch on things and awkward in daily life, so we usually recommend concentrating the 3D work on one or two statement nails and keeping the rest in a single color or a soft nuance finish. If you’d like longer fingertips, pairing this with nail extensions also gives the motifs more room to sit.

Tips for Making 3D Designs Last

• Place tall motifs on the middle or ring finger, where they catch less
• Use the pads of your fingers when washing your hair or opening bags
• If anything feels like it’s lifting, come in early and we’ll repair it

We work on 3D designs in the 120-minute course with unlimited art and parts.
